Career

Luke Wilson has appeared in over 40 movies. He has also hosted David Letterman, appeared in That 70’s Show (when already famous), and is featured in several commercials. He has written, directed, acted and even sang (in the Wendell Baker Story soundtrack.) Most Wilson brothers fans already own the Bottle Rocket DVD, but it’s only one of the most well-loved Luke Wilson movies:

  • Bottle Rocket: This was the Wilson brothers’ first movie, written by Owen, and directed by their long-time friend Wes Anderson. The movie is about friends Dignan (played by Owen Wilson) and Anthony (played by Luke Wilson) who set out to make money by being criminals. They encounter numerous snags along the way, as well as an unexpected diversion…Inez. The characters and lines are original and often laugh out loud hilarious—but the story is also touching in an offbeat way. This film is still one of the Wilson brothers’ most popular films and the beginning of Hollywood success. (See the Luke Wilson bio page for more info).
  • Idiocracy movie: The creator of this movie, Mike Judge, was also responsible for Beavis and Butthead and his first movie was Office Space. The main character Joe is part of a military experiment that goes awry, sending him centuries into the future to a dirty world full of people who have grown less intelligent with each generation since Joe’s time. The Idiocracy DVD still sells, not surprising considering the witty and sharp Maya Rudolph, Luke Wilson, Justin Long, and Dax Shephard.
  • Royal Tenenbaums: This movie stars Luke alongside brother Owen, former girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, and other Hollywood legends. The storyline involves the father Royal, who left the children long ago. He comes back, and the story unfolds. It is a really unique comedy. The Royal Tenenbaums DVD is a must for Luke Wilson fans who haven’t seen this film. (The Royal Tenenbaums soundtrack is also popular.)
  • Old School the movie: Three friends Mitch (Luke Wilson), Frank (Will Ferrell), and Beanie (Vince Vaughn) find themselves feeling old and out of place. Mitch moves out after his girlfriend cheats on him and ends up living on a college campus. Beanie has the idea of starting a fraternity, which leads to some crazy parties, big problems, and serious life changes for Frank the Tank and the rest of the gang. The Old School HD DVD or other formats are available on Amazon and other sites.
  • Legally Blonde: Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is a natural blonde who dates the hottest fraternity boy on campus, Warner Huntington. But, Warner heads to Harvard, and Elle decides to follow him there. Law school presents battles and indignities Elle wasn’t ready for—here, being blond is far from a positive thing. She has to learn to compete, not only with fellow students, but also with Warner’s old sweetheart from prep school. Luke Wilson plays Emmett, Elle’s attorney. The Legally Blond the movie and sequels are endearing and hilarious.
  • Henry Poole is Here: In an LA middle class neighborhood, the somber Henry Poole buys a rundown home. His neighbor Esperanza believes that a brown stain on the patio wall resembles the face of Jesus. She brings Henry a great deal of unwanted attention due to the stain while he becomes close with another neighbor, Dawn.
  • My Super Ex Girlfriend: In this film Wilson plays Matt Saunders who works as a building designer in New York City. He meets Jenny who seems hot and intelligent, though slightly too into the relationship. He learns that she is a real live super hero who has super dependency issues. Matt wants to break up and pursue a relationship with Hannah, but this ignites Jenny’s jealousy, which creates havoc for everyone!
  • The Wendell Baker Story: Wendell Baker is an eternal optimist. And why wouldn’t he be with a girlfriend like Doreen (Eva Mendez). He loves Doreen, but is far from the ideal boyfriend…In addition to his lack of doting, he’s also imprisoned, leading Doreen to finally move on. When he is paroled, he’s assigned to a job at a nursing home where the patients are being scammed.
