Luke Wilson to Star in “Tenure”

Variety announced this month that Luke Wilson will be starring in Tenure. Wilson will play a college professor who is up for tenure. The character deals with numerous issues, among which is a new female colleague played by Gretchen Mol.

The fictional setting is Grey College. Scenes will be shot at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.

The movie will be marketed toward college audiences, so the humor will likely be young and sharp.

Wilson Brothers in the Bad Boy Lawn Mower Race

Luke, Owen, and Andrew Wilson were some of the celebrities to race in Willie Nelson’s first annual lawn mower riding race! The competition was held at his ranch near Austin, Texas. Other celebrities to participate in support of Nelson included Woody Harrelson, Jessica Simpson, Dan Rather, and Paula Nelson.

The event was filmed for Nelson’s music video to his song “You Don’t Think I’m Funny Anymore.” Boy, I sure think it’s funny!

Luke Wilson Kicked Out of Playboy Party

This is a good one! Luke Wilson says that he was once kicked out of a Playboy party at Hugh Hefner’s mansion. Apparently, this was before Luke was really famous, so to get into the party, he said he was with his older brother Owen (but actually he was with his childhood friend Steven Eckelman. When this was discovered, Hefner told the guards to kick Luke out.

THEN, Luke called Hefner to apologize. He says he may have actually cried during this phone conversation. Here is his account: “I got DNA-ed from the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles. That means “do not admit” – that’s their special word. I tried to get a friend in and I’d shown up and they said ‘Who are you with’ and I’m like ‘I’m with my brother Owen’ and they’re like ‘We need to see him’.

“It was actually my friend Eckelman, who doesn’t look anything like Owen. I was not allowed to go there for a year and a half. I had to make kind of a tearful phone call to Mary, the woman who kind of runs the operation. I said, ‘Mary what I did was stupid. It was wrong. Hef’s (Hugh Hefner) been so generous to me…’ I actually did, I think, cry on the telephone!”

Luke’s Run-In With the Russian Mob

Luke Wilson had a run-in with the Russian mob while filming for an episode of Entourage back in 2004. The crew were watching a boxing match. Wilson recalls that they had excellent seats in the 2nd row. However, in front of them were huge guys who stood on their seats the entire time–apparently members of the Russian mafia. People in the audience were throwing things at them, such as popcorn, beer, and so on, and these objects repeatedly hit the Entourage crew as they flew toward the front row!

So, Wilson became more and more irritated and finally tapped one of the guy’s shoulders and said, “You need to sit down.” So, as the story goes, the guy said something about Wilson’s mother, and Wilson said something about the guy’s grandmother. Then suddenly, a guy who seemed to be the leader, and who looked about 70 years old, slapped Wilson in the face!

Then there was a tussle, and security took Luke Wilson out! That night they still had to film scenes for Entourage, so Mark Wahlberg (the producer) said, “I heard you got slapped by some guy.” And Luke said basically that he moved his head in time so the guy just managed to graze his chin. Hm–what a shame for such a handsome face to get sucker slapped like that:(
