I am the first to laugh at dumb things that celebrities do, but I didn’t have the heart to post these in February when they came out. Luke Wilson put on weight. Some linked the weight gain to his movie “Henry Poole is Here,” but others linked it to stress from his brother’s (Owen Wilson) suicide attempt.

But now that he’s already back to the old Luke, here’s the before photo (from February one afternoon while dining in Santa Monica):

And here is the after photo taken last month–sure, not the hottest he’s ever looked in his life, and slightly too similar to David Arquette to float some people’s boats, but looking much better nonetheless. The lady friend in this photo resembles Luke’s 4 year on-again, off-again girlfriend, but I am not sure it’s her:

Luke also says that the Wilson siblings were so close that it worried their parents! Wow, now that’s brotherly comradery for you!

It is well known that even in adulthood, Luke lived with his brother Owen, despite having a home one mile away. As late as 2002, he was living in Owen’s Santa Monica home.

Harrelson says, “You can’t believe how serious a wonderful lawn game can become when you play it with the Wilson brothers.”

This is interesting considering Luke’s insistence that he considers Owen the leader and that he is the stereotypical tag-along brother, hu?

Luke was struggling at Occidental College and asked to stay with Andrew for a while. Andrew, married at the time, claims he told Luke he could stay as long as he needed to.

Andrew says, “Then my wife came home and she’s like, ‘What’s he doing here?’ I said, ‘Well, that’s my brother Luke.’ And she’s like, ‘How long is he gonna stay?’ I said as long as he wants because he wasn’t happy in school at the time. He took me literally and stayed quite a while and that contributed to some tension in the marriage.”

Here’s what Luke Wilson says about brother Owen: “He kind of tends to control things. I’d say he’s the Tony Soprano of the family.” Fascinating!

You can kind of tell in Owen’s movie roles–especially “Bottle Rocket.” I wonder if they’re funny together or if they bicker a lot…

Uncle Joe did behind the scenes work and was also the guy in the movie who found the plane and talked the pilot into landing the plane on the country road. I am not sure who the others were–I might need to watch it again.

Luke Wilson was freaking out about doing a nude scene in My Super Ex-Girlfriend. The director let him get a butt double. He was really relieved due to being somewhat out of shape while filming the movie.

Wilson says, “I had a great year emotionally, but physically it was kind of a tough year. I thought it might be a good time to sit on the bench for that scene and let some other kind of more athletic guy take over there. What they do, and I know this sounds kind of strange, is they give you Polaroids of guy’s backsides. They have guys come in and then they give you the Polaroids and have you pick one out.

“I found myself just kind of pouring over them saying, ‘I like that one, but it doesn’t have quite the pizzazz I want for this scene.’ Or, ‘This one’s good, but it’s too muscular.’ I’ve got a little hail damage back there. As you get a little older, you tend to kind of get little dents and indentations. You want to kind of act cool about it when you eventually say, ‘I like this guy’s ***…’”

Hudson says, “I am a Wilson aficionado! I have gotten to know all of the Wilson brothers now, Andrew (the oldest Wilson brother) included. Their sense of humor is similar. But I would say Owen is the weirdest!”

Owen elaborates on the experience: “He lived in my house, probably three years ago, for about a year, even though he had his own house a mile away,” Wilson says. Luke made an interesting contribution to the decor of the living room–a mounted animal head. “It looked like a wild boar, but it was a javelina. It was a prop from ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ that, for whatever reason, he decided he had to have, and he had to put it on my wall.” Wilson grew attached to the animal, and was actually sad to see his brother move out, as he felt the animal head “kind of tied the room together.”

Nevertheless, Owen finally needed his own space. He explains: “I still don’t know why he stayed with me or why I let him stay. I couldn’t afford to be subtle any longer. I just said, ‘Look, enough’s enough. I love you, we’ve had some great times but I don’t want to see you in my house all the time.’ Luke can be really uptight. When he was living with me, he would get on me that I wasn’t picking up after myself, even though it was my house.”

I love it–the controlling little brother. Yet, usually they say that Owen is the leader (even the leader of Andrew, the eldest of the three.)

He explains, “I get uptight about things, worry about things. My style is to think, ‘Yeah, I really need to go see somebody’, and then not do it, and then get over it and think, ‘You know what? I’m okay!’ I actually saved some money! I just had to ride out the storm!’ But I don’t see how it can’t help to talk to somebody who’s not a friend.

“It’s one of those things I’m interested in and I know it could help. I just think, ‘How can I find somebody who’s good and takes Screen Actors Guild insurance?’”

[Update: Are you thinking what I'm thinking? There's something pretty deep and dark on the flip side of these humorous Wilson boys. Owen's ordeal in 2007. Luke says he wants therapy in 2006 yet is afraid of paying for sessions despite being totally rich...Intriguing to say the least. Sorry--I can't bring myself to even say the precise words to name Owen's recent ordeal--that news is too personal to discuss on a blog. I can't believe the news even aired...]
