Hoot the Movie

Hoot the movie is a family comedy that was released in 2006. In Hoot, Luke Wilson stars as the incompetent policeman, Officer Delinko. He is funny and witty, and adds a lot to the film. Logan Lerman (played by Roy Eberhardt) moved to Florida with his family. There, he fights to protect a group of endangered owls and learns that Beatrice, the school tough girl, is connected with the vandalism at the construction site. When the owls are threatened by the new construction, the school kids go to the politicians and police officers only to find that the politicians are dishonest and the police don’t seem to know what they’re doing.

Other notes:

  • Hoot is one of Wilson’s few family comedies, as Wilson typically stars in films with offbeat humor more similar to Henry Poole is Here.
  • Luke Wilson acts alongside young actors in this film and one or two others. Wilson also appears in the Rushmore DVD, which is about a teenager named Max and his character’s friendship and later battles with Herman Blume (played by Bill Murray).
  • Wilson is probably best known for his role in the movie Old School, starring alongside Will Ferrell who played party animal Frank the Tank. Wilson shows his versatility and proves he can carry a script in the Hoot DVD, which is a spectacular, funny movie without the help of his fellow Frat Pack friends.
  • The soundtrack of this movie is interesting because Jimmy Buffet recorded several tracks on it. Interestingly, Wilson has starred in a few movies with hit soundtracks. The Legally Blonde soundtrack, for example, was nominated for industry awards, and Luke himself performed on the elusive Wendell Baker Story soundtrack.
